ETCHMIADZIN. – Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II on Tuesday received President Valeriu Ștefan Zgonea of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies, which is the lower chamber of the Parliament of Romania.

The Catholicos reflected on the friendly ties between the two peoples. As per Karekin II, it is owing to the strong faith and humanitarian spirit of the Romanians that the Armenians were able to build their spiritual and cultural values in Romania, contribute to the country’s daily life, and live alongside the Romanian people, the Information System of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin informs.      

In his turn, Zgonea underscored the need to further consolidate relations between Armenia and Romania, and noted that history and culture bring the two people closer. He also reflected on the important role the Church plays in establishing peace.
