Famous Turkish pianist Fazil Say has been handed a suspended sentence of 10 months in prison for his tweets “disrespectful” to Islam.

Three citizens of Turkey appealed to prosecutor’s office complaining about Say who, according to them, insulted Islam and Muslims, Hurriyet newspaper reported.

During the trial, Say’s attorneys insisted that he was not pursuing a goal to insult Islam and those who filed a complaint were exaggerating the facts. However, the judge did not pay attention to their protests and sentenced the musician to 10 months in jail for insulting religious feelings.
