YEREVAN.— After NATO sent troops to Afghanistan the volume of drug production in that country increased several times, Iranian Prosecutor General said.

Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejeisaid stressed that the territory of Iran is used for transit of the Afghan drugs.

The Iranian authorities are allocating more resources to combat drug production and transit, he told reporters in Yerevan.

“We assure our neighbors that we are willing to work together to fight this evil,” he added.

Noting that drug trafficking is a threat to all countries, Iranian official said the cooperation should be aimed at identifying the main groups involved in drug production and trafficking.
