YEREVAN. – Syria and Iran stand to gain the most from the “reconciliation process” between the Turkish authorities and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

Turkologist Andranik Ispiryan told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am, reflecting on the possible regional consequences if the PKK’s military factions withdraw from Turkey.

Turkey, specifically PM [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan, stands to gain the most from the withdrawal. Once having resolved the matters with PKK, Turkey will direct its entire potential against the foreign enemies, first of all, against Syria,” the turkologist stressed.

He added that once President Bashar al-Assad’s regime falls in Syria, the West will completely focus on Iran, and therefore Turkey once again can become a tool for conducting Western policy concerning Iran.

As for Armenia, in Ispiryan’s conviction, once the Kurdish rebel groups withdraw from Turkey, the billions of dollars, which were spent on fighting against PKK, will be directed in Azerbaijan’s favor and against the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the Armenian diaspora, and the Armenian state’s respective measures.

“That is, by getting rid of one its disturbing problems, Turkey will indulge in resolving existing issues with neighboring countries,” Andranik Ispiryan concluded.
