YEREVAN. – The U.S. Embassy in Yerevan handed over eight medals to Armenian peacekeepers participating in the mission in Afghanistan. 

During the Wednesday ceremony, U.S. military attaché Jeffrey Stimpson said the American side highly appreciates professionalism of the Armenian peacekeepers and their contribution to peacekeeping missions.

“Armenia is a worthy partner of NATO,” he said.

Armenian troops have been participating in peacekeeping operations since February 2004 serving in the Greek battalion in Kosovo. Armenia has joined peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan in 2010 as a part of the German military contingent in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
