YEREVAN. – Even the thought of the possibility of opening flights between the Armenian and the Azerbaijani capitals, Yerevan and Baku, can “lead to a stroke” among some in the Azerbaijani society.

The media information on one such flight has caused hysterical reactions in Azerbaijan. This refers to the May 23 flight from Yerevan to Baku. It was noted that this information was “ascertained” from the official website of Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport.

Azerbaijani state agencies, however, denied allegations in connection with the opening of such flights, and explained that the airplane that conducted the given flight was transporting the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. The Azerbaijani persons in charge considered the aforementioned information to be a provocation by Zvartnots.

Upon the request of Armenian News-NEWS.am, Zvartnots International Airport press secretary Gevorg Abrahamyan commented on this matter, and stressed that the information that was posted on Zvartnots’ official website is nothing unusual.

“We always report such information; there is nothing extraordinary here,” he stated.
