YEREVAN. – Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory has become an associate member of World Data System – WDS of the International Council of Scientific Unions – ICSU.

WDS strives to form a worldwide ‘community of excellence’ for multidisciplinary scientific data, which ensures the long-term stewardship and provision of quality-assessed data and data services to the international science community and other stakeholders.

The first digitization project called Digitized First Byurakan Survey (DFBS) has been recently implemented at the observatory and became the basis for creation of Armenian Virtual Observatory.

Byurakan Observatory joined WDS which includes over 100 scientific organizations to be involved in exchange of data and find easy ways to conduct resea rch.
