YEREVAN. – Iranian officials will not go beyond the frames of a standard statements on Karabakh. They will also push for peaceful settlement of the conflict, expert on Iranian studies Vardan Voskanyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

If newly elected president Hassan Rouhani visits Baku, he will necessarily stressed importance of maintaining territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Naturally, no such statements will be made in Yerevan.

“The statements and real political line of the leaders may differ. In terms of resolution of the Karabakh conflict, I think, there will be no changes in the foreign policy of Iran,” Voskanyan said.

At the same time, he ruled out possible mediation efforts by Iran, citing the fact that the Azerbaijani side questions even negotiating framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.

“For Azerbaijan, the only acceptable option is to involve Turkey. However, Turkey should solve its own internal problems,” he concluded.
