YEREVAN. – Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan met with the board members of the Farmers’ National Union headed by Roza Tsarukyan to discuss issues relating to the various branches of agriculture.

Rosa Tsarukyan noted progress in terms of agricultural development and presented the steps for the development of beekeeping. She thanked the government for its attention to beekeeping, underscoring importance of exporting high-quality honey produced in Armenia.

Head of the Union expressed confidence that it will contribute to further development and expansion of the industry. PM was informed about the work with the EU on honey exports which has reached the final stage. It is supposed that Armenia will export honey to Europe from the beginning of 2014.

The sides also touched upon issues related to pastures and irrigation. Prime Minister instructed the Agriculture Ministry to establish a commission involving representatives of the Union to tackle the existing problems.

In addition, issues concerning the poultry industry and crop were discussed. Summing up the discussion, Tigran Sargsyan stressed the importance of holding such meetings, which will help to clarify the mechanisms and projects of assistance to farmers.
