YEREVAN. – France’s Embassy in Armenia is paying major attention to World Music Day, Ambassador Henri Reynaud said.

The Fête de la Musique, also known as World Music Day, will be celebrated in Armenia for the sixth time on June 21.

The diplomat said that France marks the holiday for the 23rd time, noting that the events are involving more and more participants with each year. The French embassy is organizing a concert on that day and will invite around 30 amateur musicians.

“Love for music is one of the characteristic features common for France and Armenia. World famous French singer of the Armenian descent Charles Aznavour is embodiment of this,” Ambassador said.

In her turn, Deputy Culture Minister Arev Samuelyan recalled that Armenia has recently become a full member of Organization de la Francophonie and is very proud of it. She said Armenia’s regions, namely Aragatsotn, Vayots Dzor, Ararat and Shirak will also participate in the World Music Day.

“It is a very democratic holiday,” she said.

Orange Armenia CEO Francis Gelibter said the company is sponsoring the event for the fourth time, adding that it will be not the last.
