YEREVAN. – The Prime Minister’s instructions, on the economic development in Armenia, are “tossed” from one department to the other.

Armenian Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE) Executive Director Karen Vardanyan stated the aforesaid on Monday. He commented on the results of the sixth annual DigiTec Business Forum that was held in capital city Yerevan on June 21 and 22.

In his words, the Armenian state needs to do more to develop the country’s Information Technology (IT) sector.

“Armenia was 116th in the Global IT Report of the World Economic Forum; now, it is 82nd. This is not much, but the trend needs to be maintained,” he added.

“The [DigiTec Business] Forum was held under the aegis of the PM for the sixth time. There already are teams of programmers in numerous enterprises [in Armenia]. But the weight of the state has to increase, since many departments are heading our sector. The PM gives instructions that are transferred from one department to another,” the UITE executive director concluded.
