YEREVAN. – Armenia’s City of Gyumri formally assumed the title of CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) Cultural Capital City.

On Sunday evening, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended the festivities that were organized on this occasion, the Government press service informs. 

A concert was held at Gyumri’s Vardanants Square, during which Gyumri Mayor Samvel Balasanyan was handed the “Gyumri: 2013 CIS Cultural Capital City” certificate.

Forty-five events will be held along the lines of this program. 

The official closing of this program is slated for November 2.
