TBILISI. – The Revenue Service of Georgia fined Russian Federation citizen Samvel Sh. approximately $2,600 for the attempt to transport undeclared jewelry through the Armenian-Georgian border.

The Russian citizen was detained on June 29 at Georgia’s Sadakhlo customs checkpoint at the border with Armenia, the Revenue Service informed on Tuesday. 

During the customs inspection, three rings with precious stones, a pendant with precious stones, a gold chain with a pendant, and earrings—weighing a total of 71.13 grams—were found in Samvel Sh.’s possession, Novosti Gruzia reports. 

The Russian citizen is fined in the amount equivalent to the value of the jewelry he was transporting.
