Early village head elections were held Sunday in Proshian village of Armenia’s Kotayk Region.

According to preliminary results, ruling Republican Party candidate Artur Muradyan has won the voting.

In line with the Central Electoral Commission data, 2,798 of the 3,991 registered voters cast their ballots. According to preliminary information, Muradyan received 1,317 votes, opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party candidate Vova Sahakyan garnered 1,241 votes, and non-party affiliate Aleksan Aleksanyan tallied 178 ballots. 

To note, Proshian village prefect and—ARF member—Hrach Muradyan was found dead on April 1, and with a fatal gunshot wound, near the administration building of the village. A criminal case is opened into Muradyan’s murder.
