YEREVAN. – Speaker of the Armenian parliament Hovik Abrahamyan expressed regret and condemned the attitude towards Hrachya Harutyunyan, Armenian driver involved in a fatal Russian bus crash.

Once again expressing condolences on the death of 18 people, Abrahamyan said attitude towards defendant in a courtroom was unacceptable, parliament’s press service reported.

Abrahamyan is hopeful that Russian law enforcers will conduct a proper investigation, will give an adequate assessment of the actions disrespecting his dignity and will make accountable those responsible for the  actions.

As informed earlier, a truck crashed into a passenger bus on July 13 outside Moscow, and it was found out that the truck driver was an Armenian citizen by the name of Hrachya Harutyunyan. The impact of the crash was so powerful that the bus had split in two. The accident claimed 18 lives and about 50 others were hospitalized. The court had Harutyunyan arrested on Monday. To note, he was brought to the courtroom with slippers and a women’s robe.
