YEREVAN. – An Armenian delegation, led by Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, on Wednesday headed to the Georgian capital city Tbilisi, for an official visit. 

Ohanyan met with Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania, the Armenian MOD press service informs. During the ensuing joint news conference, Alasania stressed that Armenian-Georgian relations are a priority for the Government of Georgia.   

“During today’s talk, we discussed bilateral cooperation and agreed that it will proceed in accordance with the plan which we adopted in 2013. We also spoke about the priorities which will be marked in our countries in 2014. Armenian-Georgian relations play an important role in ensuring regional security,” the Georgian defense minister said, in particular.        

In his turn, Seyran Ohanyan informed that the parties discussed the present-day security issues in the South Caucasus.

“We attach great importance to relations with Georgia because our countries are bound by friendship. I believe these foundations will be an incentive for us in the development of our relations in the defense sector,” specifically noted the Armenian minister of defense. He added that the cooperation between Armenia and Georgia is developing in dynamic fashion in the defense sector.    

Seyran Ohanyan also met with Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili. The interlocutors looked into the policy of cooperation between Armenia and Georgia in the defense sector.    

Speaking to news reporters, Ohanyan noted that the defense ministries of the two countries are planning to cooperate in several directions.

At the Heroes’ Square, the Armenian delegation, led by Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, paid tribute to the memory of fallen Georgian heroes.
