YEREVAN. – Unless Turkish business community yields to the pressure of the political authorities, opening of Armenia-Turkey railway will become not only possible, but beneficial to both parties, Armenian expert said.

Earlier Turkish railway official said repair works on the railway in eastern Turkey have reached Kars, while the branch extending to the border with Armenia will be completed by the end of this year.

“It is no secret that Turkey, in most matters, is pressed by Azerbaijan - the fact which is mentioned by Turkish experts. For this reason, many economic projects were not implemented,” economist Tatul Manaseryan said, commenting on recent developments.

For example, Armenia and Turkey concluded an agreement on electricity export, but the deal has not been implemented for the mentioned reasons.
