Iranian foreign office confirmed exchange of letters between Barack Obama and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.
Spokeswoman for Iranian Foreign Ministry Marzieh Afkham said the White House had sent a letter with congratulations on Rouhani’s election through “current diplomatic channels,” ITAR-TASS reported. Hassan Rouhani sent a message in response.
On September 15, Barack Obama informed about exchange of letters with Rouhani in an interview with ABC. The U.S. President noted that he wants to use Tehran’s potential to stabilize the situation in Syria.
