On September 15, a group of representatives from the Armenian community in Almaty, Kazakhstan, met with world-renowned French-Armenian singer Charles Aznavour.

To note, Aznavour—who is also Armenia’s Ambassador to Switzerland, permanent delegate to the United Nations at Geneva, a National Hero of Armenia, and a songwriter, actor, and public activist—was in Almaty as the guest of honor of the Eurasian Music Award and the Eurasian International Film Festival, which were held in the Kazakh city.

Armenia’s Embassy in Kazakhstan had organized the talk with the Armenian community representatives.

Aznavour asked about the past and present of Kazakh Armenians and the challenges in terms of preserving their Armenian identity, and spoke about his efforts toward the pro-Armenian settlement of the Karabakh conflict and the socioeconomic development of Armenia.

Charles Aznavour also visited the Saint Karapet Armenian Church of Almaty.
