The World Health Organization will hold a meeting on October 2-3 to focus on the current status of noncommunicable disease (NCD) action in Eastern Europe and central Asia, and to discuss plans for the future.

In addition, the WHO European Ministerial Conference on the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases in the Context of Health 2020 to be held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on 3-4 December 2013, will be discussed.

This meeting will also explore the preliminary results of the project “Strengthening of health systems for the prevention and control of Noncommunicable Diseases in Eastern Europe and Central Asia” implemented in Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan

Ministers responsible for health, along with senior officials from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are expected to attend the meeting in Bad Gastein, Austria.
