YEREVAN. – The Armenian Ministry of Diaspora was the venue Friday for the official signing of the agreement between the “Center for Coordination of Syrian Armenian Affairs” NGO and the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Armenia.

Welcoming Kuwait’s willingness to assist Syrian Armenians, Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan specifically said:

“Working with the Kuwait Embassy has become a tradition. In December of last year, the State of Kuwait donated $100,000 for the assistance to the Syrian Armenians—who had arrived in Armenia as a result of the events that have unrolled in Syria—which was used to obtain food. The new aid, which again is allocated in the amount of $100,000, will be used to implement Syrian-Armenian scholastic and other educational programs.”

On his part, Kuwaiti Ambassador Bassam Muhammad Alqabandi thanked Hakobyan for the cooperation and added:

“I am happy to be at the Ministry [of Diaspora]. This is not our last visit; there are new projects. We will also assist in the New Aleppo project [whereby a district will be built in Armenia for Syrian Armenians].”
