Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro expressed his support to the initiative to nominate Russian President Vladimir Putin for the Nobel Peace Prize.

“If there is someone who deserves the Nobel Peace Prize at this historic moment, it is the Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was able to stop the war that threatened the Syrians,” Maduro stated during a formal function.  

And several days ago, he had announced that the speaker of the Venezuelan parliament will visit Moscow and hand the Russian leader a letter of congratulations, Moskovsky Komsomolets reports. 

To note, a group of Russian public figures and State Duma MPs have launched an initiative to nominate Vladimir Putin for the Nobel Peace Prize.
