YEREVAN. – Over 400,000 Armenian were forced to leave the territory of Azerbaijan as a result of massacres, violence and deportation, member of Heritage party said during discussion on problems of Armenian refuges from Azerbaijan.

Some of the refugees settled in Armenia, some went abroad, the rest moved to Nagorno-Karabakh.

“Those who perpetrated massacres of Armenians in Azerbaijan have not been held accountable. Continuation of Turkic police of torturing Armenians did not receive adequate international assessment,” Stepan Hasan Jalalyan said.

He is convinced the authorities must revise their policy on refugees and must be consistent in the integration of refugees into society.

As to foreign policy, the Armenian authorities must raise the issue of holding accountable perpetrators of the Armenian genocide in Azerbaijan in the international arena. They must appeal to international agencies to get political and legal assessment and demand compensation from the Azerbaijani government.
