YEREVAN. – New details have become known in connection with Armenian Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Yuri Vardanyan’s son, Davit Vardanyan’s arrest on the Iran-Armenia border while trying to smuggle drugs. 

On October 13, the Police Syunik Regional Investigation Division launched a respective criminal case, the Police news service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

On October 15, charges were laid against Davit Vardanyan, and he was arrested. 

And on October 16, the General Investigation Department launched an investigation into the criminal case.      

The investigation is in progress.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Yuri Vardanyan’s eldest son, Davit Vardanyan, 29, was arrested on the Iran-Armenia border seven to eight days ago. Davit Vardanyan was detained while attempting to smuggle drugs at the border. Subsequently, he was arrested and sent to the detention center of capital city Yerevan’s investigation department.
