YEREVAN. – Armenia will host winter Pan-Armenian Games. According to the government decision, Ishkhan Zakaryan will head the committee to organize the Games. The committee will include the Ministers of Sport, Diaspora, Emergency Situations, head of civil aviation department, government officials as well as the chairman of the Federation of Armenia’s national ice hockey team.

Speaking to the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent, Minister of Sport Yuri Vardanyan said Armenian ice hockey team is training in Belarus and U.S. and mainly features Americans and Canadians of the Armenian descent.

The goal of the Games is to raise the role of winter sports in Armenia.  

Armenia was first presented at Winter Olympic Games in 1994 and has not won medals since then. Overall, 27 athletes presented Armenia at Winter Olympics.
