YEREVAN. – Power went off in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan on Saturday morning, and electricians are unable to explain the cause and duration of the power outage.

The electricity grid hotline is busy.

Electrical Network of Armenia Company Media Relations Department Head Natalya Sarjanyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that virtually the entire city has no electricity.

But this is not caused by the company’s technical operations, and the electricity grid was shut down by the Electricity System Operator Company of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.

But electricity is restored in some districts, and work is underway to restore it throughout the city.

In Sarjanyan’s words, the subway system and the trolleybuses, however, are operating.
