YEREVAN. – Azerbaijan must withdraw snipers from the line of contact in Karabakh conflict zone as soon as possible and stop provoking the incidents, MP from Armenian ruling Republican Party of Armenia said.

Asked about expectations form the upcoming meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders, MP said it would be wrong to speak about expectations beforehand. In this context he noted activeness of Azerbaijani and Turkish sides frequently making statements on the buffer zone and opening of Armenia-Turkey border.

The MP said the process must continue in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group by means of peaceful talks.

“Azerbaijan should withdraw snipers, stop firing at the Armenian settlements and give up militarist rhetoric,” he added.

As to statements by Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoglu about possible opening of the border, this is manifestation of Ankara’s problems with European integration and increasing its role in the region. The MP does not consider these statements honest.

Turkish FM recently spoke about opening of the border if five regions of buffer zone are transferred to Azerbaijan.
