YEREVAN. – Iranian gas still will not be available in Armenia’s general market, Energy Minister Armen Movsisyan said in response to the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent’s question.

Commenting on the results of his visit to Iran, where Movsisyan met with the Petroleum Minister Bijan Zangeneh and President Hassan Rouhani, Armenian Minister said that the Iranian side discussed the possibility of increasing the supply of gas in exchange for Armenian electricity in the winter months.

The Minister stressed that the gas will be used only for Yerevan thermal power plant. He noted that it has not been determined to what extent the gas supply will be increased.

Armenian consumers are using Russian natural gas, with the exception of the Yerevan thermal power plant. Iranian gas is swapped for Armenian electricity: one cubic meter of gas for 3 kW per hour.
