GYUMRI. – In connection with Russian President’s Vladimir Putin’s visit to Armenia, the central streets of Gyumri plus the roads leading to the city airport and the 102nd Russian Military Base are closed ever since early Monday morning,

An unprecedented large number of police are overseeing these areas.    

The life in Downtown Gyumri has come to a standstill, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informs from the city. The shops and kindergartens are closed. 

In addition, all manholes along the roads leading from the airport to Downtown Gyumri have been welded, and the Armenian and Russian national flags are placed all through the city.   

To note, at the invitation of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay a state visit to Armenia on Monday. First, Putin will visit Gyumri and, subsequently, he will arrive in capital city Yerevan.
