YEREVAN. – The participants of a protest against Armenia’s joining Russia-led Customs Union are going to hand over a letter to the Armenian government.

At the moment the protesters gathered near the building of the Armenian government that is cordoned by police, the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports from the site.

One of the protesters read out the letter saying that Armenia and Armenian people are faced with a threat of losing further democratic development.

“This happened as a result of Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan’s intention to join Customs Union voiced on September 3 and further processes arising from this decision,” the letter reads.

The participants demands that dignity, rights and freedoms of the citizens of Armenia must be respected, the process of Armenia’s joining the Customs Union must be stopped for the sake of the Republic of Armenia.

The demonstrators are chanting “Putin, go back”, “Free and independent Armenia” mottos. The action near the government continues.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived on a state visit to Armenia. The two-day state visit of the Russian leader will start in Gyurmi, the second largest city of Armenia. During the visit Vladimir Putin and Serzh Sargsyan will visit #102 Russian military unit and wil participate in the third Russian-Armenian interregional forum.
