YEREVAN. – Pro-European sentiments are not sensed among the population of Armenia.

Eastern Europe Research Center analyst Marius Laurinavičius told the aforesaid to reporters during an international conference that was convened Thursday in Armenian capital city Yerevan.

“I definitely cannot say that Armenia’s population is pro-Russian. But I do not see in your country a marked pro-European mood, which is visible in Ukraine.

“The situation is different likewise with the elite in the two countries. The majority of the oligarchs in Ukraine are in favor of European integration, whereas in Armenia’s case I do not believe so much that the authorities were heartily negotiating with the EU,” he said.

Laurinavičius is sure that the domestic political situations in Armenia and in Ukraine are different, too.
