YEREVAN. – During his visit to Armenian capital city on Thursday, Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoglu implied that Armenia likewise can be incorporated in regional projects.

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Artak Davtyan noted the aforementioned at a press conference on Friday.

Davtyan expressed a view that, as the heir to the Ottoman Empire, any move by Turkey is well-measured and it aims to creating a backdrop, ahead of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, that Armenia and Turkey are in a process which ultimately will result in friendship between the two countries and stability in the region.

“Now, we need to recall the wisdom of the people: If it deceived us once, shame on it, [but] if it deceived us twice, shame on us,” Davtyan said.

Recalling Davutoglu’s insinuation that Armenia likewise can be incorporated in the future regional projects, the RPA MP stated: “We want to build a European state in the Eurasian space.”

For his part, political scientist, ex-presidential candidate Andreas Ghukasyan noted that there is no problem in Davutoglu’s visit.

“[But] there is a problem that he met with [Armenian FM] Edward Nalbandian and they discussed matters, for more than an hour, which remained a secret.

“This means that there are problems that must be solved, and it is known that there are preconditions in connection with Nagorno-Karabakh.

“It is apparent that the topic of discussions is the Armenian-Turkish border and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue,” Ghukasyan added.
