Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych hopes that the issue of gas supplies from Russia will be solved based on the principles of mutual benefit, Interfax reported.

This was stated during the meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Tuesday.

President of Ukraine arrived in the Russian capital on a working visit where he together with Vladimir Putin will head the sixth meeting of the Russian- Ukrainian interstate commission.

Following the meeting, the presidents are expected to sign a package of bilateral documents.

According to Ukrainian opposition, Yanukovych is going to sign an agreement on Ukraine’s accession to the Customs Union.

In turn, Russian presidential aide Andrei Belousov said that during the visit the parties may agree on granting a credit to Ukraine.
