YEREVAN. – The Hackathon[YAN] Flight 2013 competition-festival of innovative ideas and programming kicked off Saturday at Armenia’s Zvartnots International Airport of capital city Yerevan.   

The competing teams will have to develop and subsequently present to the panel of judges, and within 24 hours, their ideas as well as the prototype for the application to the proposed project.     

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan visited the airport, spoke with the competing teams, and got acquainted with their innovative ideas and projects. 

In Sargsyan’s words, such competitions will be beneficial for the Armenian youth to be able to show an interested in the information technology (IT), since the demand for IT specialists grows sharply each year.

“In recent years, there is a steady growth in this sector in our country, and we hold the leading positions in the region,” Tigran Sargsyan told reporters.   

As a result of Hackathon[YAN] Flight 2013, prototypes, applications, or solutions are expected for a set of ready-made programs, and these prototypes, applications, or solutions will have the potential to be introduced to local Armenian and international markets.
