YEREVAN. – Armenia was disgraced because of its sharp political U-turn on September 3.

Opposition Armenian National Movement Chairman, Armenian National Congress bloc National Assembly Faction Secretary Aram Manukyan told the aforesaid at a press conference on Wednesday.

Manukyan spoke about Armenia’s foreign policy shortcomings in 2013, and added that everyone was shocked by this U-turn.

“Its result was the next: [Armenia’s] relations with Russia, which humiliated Armenia, the Armenian people. As a result, Russia’s relations with Armenia were not as bad as they are now.

“This is a result of [Armenian President] Serzh Sargsyan’s weakness. Neither Russia nor the West trusts Serzh Sargsyan because he is unpredictable,” the opposition MP said.

In his view, Armenia’s second diplomatic failure was the breaking off of relations with Iran following the natural gas scandal.

“Iran was one of our trusted partners, and you cannot treat it like that,” Aram Manukyan stated.
