YEREVAN. – The loss of Armenia’s sovereignty is too exaggerated political category for Armenia-Russia gas deal, political analyst Sergey Minasyan believes.

It is very difficult to divide energy and geopolitics in the international policy and in the post-Soviet area in particular.

“Of course, there is purely economic component, but we must understand that the price of gas and other economic relations, just as the price of weapons purchased by Armenia from Russia and received free of charge - all this is a common political complex where gas agreement is only one component,” the analyst told reporters.

He stressed that it is obvious that Russia is Armenia’s primarily military and political ally.

“At the moment, Armenia has no more favorable alternative proposals and is unlikely to get. In some cases it is the price that Armenia pays for the security,” Minasyan added.
