YEREVAN. – It is senseless to expect any actions from the Turkish side ahead of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, says Director of Armenia-based Institute of Orientology Ruben Safrastyan.

One of the main goals of Turkey is to show the world their aspiration to normalize Armenia-Turkey relations without doing anything.

“I think that our diplomacy must be more public and more understandable not only for people, but the entire world. This is the neglect of Armenia’s diplomacy,” Safrastyan told reporters.

He is convinced that if a new stage of Armenia-Turkey normalization starts, it must be based not on secret talks or mediators. On the contrary, Turkey must declare that it establishes diplomatic relations and normal border regime with Armenia.
