If Council of Europe tries to enter into Karabakh peace process that would create much more confusion, rather than solutions, Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland said during the PACE winter session.

He recalled that OSCE Minsk Group is dealing with the issue.

“This is in the hands of the Minsk Group, and the Council of Europe has never been asked by any other parties to do anything in particular on this issue,” Jagland noted.

“This is a great dilemma, but we cannot impose ourselves; we can only do such work if we are wanted by the parties themselves and the other major players in Europe.”

The calls to withdraw talks from within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group are constantly raised by the Azerbaijani side. Official Yerevan categorically opposed the idea.
