SISIAN. – The funeral of Armenian military serviceman Karen Galstyan was held Friday, and with military customs, at Sisian City Pantheon.   

The commanders of Galstyan’s military unit, Governor Vahe Hakobyan of Syunik Region, and Mayor Aghasi Hakobjanyan of Sisian also attended the funeral, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informs.   

Private Karen Galstyan (born in 1994) sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his head on Tuesday, and as a result of the adversary’s sniper fire. He was killed at the military position of the protection area of a Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Defense Army military unit which is stationed in the northern direction.

NKR President Bako Sahakyan had signed a decree, pursuant to which Galstyan was posthumously awarded with the Military Service Medal for his bravery while defending the NKR state border. 

Karen Galstyan was from Sisian city, and he was to be discharged from the army in spring.
