YEREVAN. – With Armenia’s accession to Customs Union the country will be faced with three major problems, political scientist Stepan Grigoryan said.

Grigoryan believes Armenia will face increase in prices, problems with sovereignty. Besides, the interests of Armenia on Nagorno-Karabakh do not coincide with the interests of the Customs Union member states.

“If we join Customs Union, other states, except for Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, will become the third countries for us. The prices for imported European goods will naturally increase,” Grigoryan told reporters.

He also focused on the problem of sovereignty in connection with the recent statements of the government that Armenia would develop relations with EU through Customs Union.

Armenia announced its intention to join Customs Union last September after the talks between presidents of Armenia and Russia in Moscow. The roadmap on Armenia’s accession to Customs Union was signed on December 24.
