YEREVAN. – Single Eurasian currency can be beneficial not only to Russia, said Samvel Chzmachyan, chairman of the Union of Banks of Armenia.

“Such a currency is set to affect the Common Economic Space just as it happened in case of euro. I think that the impact will be positive,” he said.

Asked whether Russia will use this currency for its own interests, Chzmachyan recalled the positive experience of the Soviet Union. Nevertheless, he added, the issue of a single currency for the Eurasian is a project of remote future.

“I think the Armenian dram will exist long enough,” he emphasized.

Eurasian Union that Armenia is going to join will be created by January 1, 2015.
