A magnitude-3.1 earthquake was recorded Monday morning in Georgia.  

It is reported that the epicenter of the underground shaking was located in Gurkeli village, not far from the City of Akhaltsikhe.    

According to the local seismological monitoring center data, the first tremors were recorded on Sunday evening.

The area is in Javakhk—Georgian name: Javakheti—, which is a predominantly-Armenian-populated part of Georgia’s southeastern Samtskhe-Javakheti Province.
