YEREVAN. – Armenian-Dutch relations in agriculture will be brought to a new level of development.

Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan noted the above-said at his talk Wednesday with Ambassador of the Netherlands to Armenia, Hans Horbach.   

For his part, Horbach expressed willingness to assist in achieving closer ties between the Armenian and the Dutch Ministries of Agriculture, and noted that Armenian-Dutch relations in agriculture have great potential for development, informs the Armenian Ministry of Agriculture press service.    

Subsequently, the minister presented the current state of agriculture in Armenia, and its development trends and strategic plans. In addition, Karapetyan expressed a desire to organize an agricultural business forum this year in Holland.      

In turn, Ambassador Horbach stated that the Dutch government stands ready to continue cooperation with Armenia. He noted that, in the summer of 2014, the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands will start to fund new projects related to “Private Sector Initiative.”     

Sergo Karapetyan also commented on Armenia’s decision to join the Russian-led Customs Union.

“This fact does not reflect on the prospect for our relations with the European Union. Our projects with the latter continue, and we will work to expand them further,” the Armenian agriculture minister said.
