YEREVAN. – The information, according to which Azerbaijan has deployed additional military equipment along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, does not correspond to reality.

Armenia Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan told the aforesaid to reporters on Wednesday, at Yerablur Military Pantheon of capital city Yerevan.

Ohanyan stressed that Armenia has a control of the situation on the border, and Azerbaijan has not deployed additional military equipment on the border.

“If anything does occur, it is their training operations,” he added.

In the minister’s words, peace on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border can be viewed from two perspectives.

“First, our military servicemen were able to respond to that tension as fitting. And second, the adversary likewise understands that the situation should not be exacerbated in vain because they are having more casualties, and we are able to reduce the tension. We respond to targeted shots only,” Ohanyan said.

To a reporter’s query that Armenia is a Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member and CSTO member Russia seems to be starting a war against Ukraine, and therefore could Armenia intervene, the minister responded that both Russia and the Ukrainian authorities have a control of the present-day situation.
