Russian lawmakers responded to the sanctions imposed by the U.S. and EU by expressing their bewilderment at the “black list”.

“Such rejection of will of the people is surprising, as the U.S. and the European Union has always declared their commitment to democracy and advocated the right of peoples to determine their own destiny,” says the statement.

Besides, the Russian State Duma members are surprised by including the name of Yelena Mizulina in the list. Mizulina was the author of the law on gay propaganda among children.

The MPs recalled that the law was approved by 436 lawmakers and suggest that President Obama can impose sanctions on all lawmakers voting for the bill.

“We are not bargaining our principles and are not afraid of any sanctions,” they said.
