The Armenian textile workers need discounts in their electricity costs for the competitiveness of their products.

Hakob Aghabekyan, director of the cotton plant (Naytex Company) of Maralik city in Shirak Region, told the above-said to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, the company’s production is quite energy-consuming, since it includes all the processing phases.

“If someone [in Armenia] works with [natural] gas and uses more than 10,000 cubic meters per month, he passes to a lower tariff [rate]. We use as much energy, but our equipment cannot operate on gas,” Aghabekyan stated.

The company does not wish to make use of the night rate, either, because the majority of its workers have farms where they work in the evenings.
