YEREVAN. – The NATO statement’s section on Armenia assumes that the Alliance will assist Armenia in raising the qualification of the country’s armed forces personnel; there is practically nothing new in it.

Caucasus Institute Deputy Director, political analyst Sergey Minasyan told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am

In his words, a sergeants’ professional training program already is carried out in Armenia, and the UK Embassy is coordinating this program.

“But I don’t think that there will be any further developments.

“Overall, in NATO’s statements on Moldova, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, it was decided to use what is now being used,” Minasyan noted.

He also recalled the Armenia MFA statement, which stresses that no further deepening of cooperation with NATO is envisioned.

In the analyst’s words, however, this statement does not imply that the present-day level of Armenia-NATO relations will not be maintained.

Against the backdrop of the Ukrainian crisis, the NATO representatives had announced about their intentions to expand cooperation with Armenia, Moldova, and Azerbaijan.
