April 18, which UNESCO has established as the International Day on Monuments and Sites, is celebrated in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) for the second year.

The NKR Government’s Department of Tourism and Historical Environment Protection has planned a series of respective events, which officially kicked off Wednesday at Artsakh State University.

The event was devoted to the protection of monuments.

In his remarks, above-said Department official Mr. Sargsyan stressed the need to giving a proper response to Azerbaijan’s anti-Armenian actions in the information domain. He underscored that the Armenian youth need to form a better understanding of the Armenian historical and cultural heritage, to be able to properly respond to the falsifications.
A documentary, which was devoted to the Azerbaijani authorities’ vandalism toward the Armenian cultural and historical monuments in Julfa, Nakhichevan, also was screened at the event.

The function ended with questions and answers, during which questions were also raised about the Islamic monuments in Karabakh.
