Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu stated that his country stands ready to render assistance to Kessab Armenians, should they find themselves in a difficulty.   

Speaking to reporters, Davutoglu reflected on the Kessab Armenians, reported Hürriyet daily of Turkey.

The Turkey FM noted that he had said, during his recent talk with the General Vicar of the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople, that the Syrian Armenians may come to Turkey.

Davutoglu repeated that if the Kessab Armenians find themselves in a difficult situation, Turkey is ready for provide any kind of assistance to them.

A video was posted on the Internet, where it shows that the Islamic militants enter Syria’s predominantly Armenian-populated town of Kessab from Turkey’s border checkpoint without any obstacles.

In the early morning on March 21, armed militants from the Jabhat al-Nusra Islamic terrorist group infiltrated into northern Syria’s Latakia Governorate, which is predominantly inhabited by Armenians and Alawites, from four directions.

Two large groups of terrorists had launched the attack from Turkey. About 600 Kessab-Armenian families were initially sheltered in Latakia city. On March 23, Turkish fighter planes downed a Syrian military aircraft that was conducting a mission against the Islamic terrorists in Kessab. A group of Armenia parliament members recently visited Syria to assess the situation in the region.
