YEREVAN. – The Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia has received, from the Cyprus Attorney General’s Office, the response to its inquiry and several documents pertaining to the “offshore case.”

The Prosecutor General’s Office Public Relations Department informed the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Due to the confidentiality of the respective investigation, however, the Prosecutor General’s Office is not disclosing the content of this response.

In addition, the Armenian Prosecutor General’s Office may ask for additional inquiry from the Cyprus Attorney General’s Office.

The Prosecutor General’s Office Public Relations Department also confirmed that the Georgian side has formally informed them about its approval of the Prosecutor General’s Office’s petition for the extradition of Armenian businessman Ashot Sukiasyan—who is the main “actor” in the aforesaid case—to Armenia from Georgia, where he is under arrest at present. Sukiasyan, however, has seven days to appeal this decision.

Sukiasyan was detained on January 31, in Georgian capital city Tbilisi, with the assistance of the Interpol National Central Bureau in Armenia, and as a result of cooperation with the Georgian law enforcement.

Within the framework of a case involving an offshore company which is registered in Cyprus, the Armenian General Investigation Department had laid charges on Sukiasyan, and on the grounds of committing fraud, causing property damage, and legalizing criminally-earned income. Arrest was set as his restraining order.
